How donating a car in Michigan works
From the first form to the final paperwork, a Michigan donation moves in three steps.
- Tell us about the vehicle — the short form takes about 60 seconds, or call (855) 681-1155 and a coordinator will take the details by phone.
- Schedule free pickup — a coordinator calls to arrange towing at a time that suits you, wherever the vehicle sits in Michigan.
- Receive your paperwork — you get a donation receipt at pickup, plus IRS Form 1098-C if the vehicle sells for more than $500.
Vehicles accepted from Michigan donors
Cars, trucks, SUVs, vans, motorcycles, RVs and boats are all accepted from Michigan — any make, any model, any condition.
You do not need to repair, clean or tow anything yourself. Tell us the condition as it is and the pickup is arranged around it.
Paperwork and tax deduction in Michigan
Your vehicle donation is tax-deductible to the fullest extent allowed by law. Veterans Care Charity is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit. You will receive a donation receipt, and IRS Form 1098-C if your vehicle sells for more than $500. Please consult your tax advisor regarding your specific deduction.
The receipt you get at pickup is your first piece of documentation. If the vehicle sells above $500, Form 1098-C shows the gross sale amount for your return.
